Cantors are coached and trained by the Parish Director of Music. Each new cantor works with a “Buddy” until he or she is ready to act as song leader on his or her own. Every 4-6 weeks, cantors and parish musicians attend a meeting/practice to review and learn new music for upcoming liturgies.

The ability to read music is helpful but not mandatory. It is important, however, that the individual has a good feel for music, is able to sing on pitch and learns music with relative ease. Cantors are scheduled to sing for Masses each month according to their availability and substitute for each other when needed. Please refer to the Mass schedule for Mass times.
