Sunday Kids' Program

"Education in the faith by the parents should begin in the child’s earliest years. This already happens when family members help one another grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel. Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God. The parish is the Eucharistic community and the heart of the liturgical life of Christian families; it is a privileged place for the catechesis of children and parents" (Catechism, 2226).

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Children,

WELCOME to Saints Peter and Paul Church and our Parish Christian Faith Formation Program for Parish Children in Kindergarten through Grade 8.  As we begin to reopen our Sunday Children’s Program, please know that we are doing everything we can to ensure both the safety of our parishioners, catechists, and students and to efficiently moving forward with our formation programs.  We are eager to work with you and are committed to doing our best to accommodate each family during this difficult time.

Our program aims at fostering an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and hopes to equip our young people with an understanding of and appreciation for our Catholic faith, including how God works within our daily lives.  Through this important mission, the Parish Christian Faith Formation Program partners with you and supports your role as primary educators in matters of faith by providing buildable, systematic presentations of the basics of the Catholic faith through our diocesan approved curriculum.

This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will offer two options from which you may choose.  The options provide for home study and limited onsite catechesis when possible, and in the safest environment we can feasibly present (masks, sanitization, social distancing, health screening, etc.)  Both options have been developed for this year only or until we have a change in our current circumstances regarding health and welfare during a global pandemic.

Option 1:  Onsite Sunday School

In an effort to help slow the spread of the virus and to provide the safest onsite environment possible, we will offer Sunday School in small groups, meeting according to the schedule provided below.  Any quarantine guidelines set forth by state and local government, our diocese and parish must be abided.  Saints Peter and Paul will have a Safety Plan for Sunday School.  We will adhere to wearing masks, social distancing, and sanitization practices.

In addition, it is imperative for children and adults to stay home and seek medical assistance if you or anyone in your household has experienced any of the symptoms of COVID-19; fever, chills, sore throat, recent loss of taste or smell, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.  Everyone will wear masks and social distance; arrival and dismissal included.  If your family has recently attended a large function or sporting event and did not social distance or wear face masks, please quarantine from Sunday School for 14 days as recommended by the CDC.

Option 2:  Home Based Catechesis for the 2020/2021 School Year

Saints Peter and Paul Christian Faith Formation personnel will assist those parents and families who choose to participate in Home Based Catechesis during the unique time and circumstance of COVID-19.  Using the Finding God curriculum from Loyola Press, parents and guardians will be the primary teachers in the home environment.  You will receive scheduled lesson plans, student books, enrichment activities, videos from the Office of Christian Faith Formation, assessments, and any additional support necessary.  More information will be provided upon registration.

Following Jesus is the Work of a Lifetime

Guiding your family in following Jesus is both a serious duty and a challenge.  Let’s not forget, however, it is our heritage and should be celebrated and charged with intense joy!  We must support and protect the formation or our children through relationships with adults, like yourself, who live and model the Christian faith.

Registration and additional forms for Faith Formation, at home or in person, is below.  If you prefer a hard copy of the registration and forms, please call us at 410-822-6581 or email to or
